چکیده

Space applications require image sensors that are tolerant to the harsh radiation conditions outside the earth’s atmosphere. This paper reports about an ongoing optimization experiment for radiation tolerant 4T pixels. The experiment is conducted in a 0.18μm CMOS image sensor process and involves optimization of both the layout and the process technology. The purpose of the experiment is to minimize the end-of-life dark current for a star tracker application while meeting all other electrooptical specifications. This implies tolerance to both ionizing dose and displacement damage.

Applications of two new algorithms of cuckoo optimization (CO) and forest optimization (FO) for solving single row facility layout problem (SRFLP)

Nowadays, due to inherent complexity of real optimization problems, it has always been a challenging issue to develop a solution algorithm to these problems. Single row facility layout problem (SRFLP) is a NP-hard problem of arranging a number of rectangular facilities with varying length on one side of a straight line with aim of minimizing the weighted sum of the distance between all facility...

4T CMOS Image Sensor Pixel Degradation due to X-ray Radiation

-This paper presents a radiation study on the pinned photodiode (PPD) and Transfer Gate (TG) of 4T (4 Transistor) CMOS Image Sensors (CIS). The PPD and the TG are the most sensitive elements for the sensor’s dark signal. The transfer gate length has an effect on the dark current due to the electric field variation in the transfer channel and the defect generation near the overlap region between...

Active pixel sensors: the sensor of choice for future space applications

It is generally known that active pixel sensors (APS) have a number of advantages over CCD detectors if it comes to cost for mass production, power consumption and ease of integration. Nevertheless, most space applications still use CCD detectors because they tend to give better performance and have a successful heritage. To this respect a change may be at hand with the advent of deep sub-micro...

A Continuous Plane Model to Machine Layout Problems Considering Pick-Up and Drop-Off Points: An Evolutionary Algorithm

One of the well-known evolutionary algorithms inspired by biological evolution is genetic algorithm (GA) that is employed as a robust and global optimization tool to search for the best or near-optimal solution with the search space. In this paper, this algorithm is used to solve unequalsized machines (or intra-cell) layout problems considering pick-up and drop-off (input/output) points. Such p...
